Rules & Policies

Please enjoy yourselves and have fun! Respect the privacy and rights of others. This is a family-oriented campground and our intent is to make your stay a happy and safe experience. These rules and policies are to ensure an enjoyable time is had by everyone. Please do not walk through other guests’ campsites.

Registration- All campers and visitors must register at the office before entering the campground. Campers are responsible for the conduct of their visitors, including any injury or property damage due to their actions. All visitors must leave the campground by 10:00 p.m.

Campsite Occupancy- Campsite rates are based on 2 adults and their minor children, under the age of 18, with a normal limit of 6 people per site. An individual campsite may not be occupied by more than one camping unit without prior approval.

Visitors– Please limit visitors to 4 at anytime. Exceptions must be approved in advance or visitors will be required to leave. All visitors must leave by 10:00 p.m.

Quiet Hours- Quiet Time is from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Minor children must be at their campsite during Quiet Time unless accompanied by their parents. No loud music at any time. TV’s and radios must not be heard beyond your campsite, and must be turned off during Quiet Time. Please keep voices down during Quiet Time. Turn off outdoor lights when retiring for the evening. Profanity will not be tolerated at any time. Loud and obnoxious individuals will not be tolerated and may be asked to leave without a refund. Local law enforcement will be contacted if necessary. Please be considerate of others.

Children- Parents and guardians are responsible for their children’s behavior and safety. Young children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult when using the restrooms and playground. Please take the time to instruct your children on the proper use of the facilities and showers. Damages caused by your children will become the financial obligation of parents or guardians. Children under the age of 16 may not be left on the grounds unsupervised and must return to their campsite at dark.

Pets- Well-behaved pets are welcome and limited to 2 per campsite. Pets must be leashed, under control at all times, and not left unattended when outside your camping unit. You may leave your pet in your camping unit while you are gone, but if the pet disturbs guests with excessive barking, you will be contacted and required to return to your campsite. Pets are not allowed to be left in a tent while you are off property or away from your campsite for extended periods. You must clean up after your pet immediately, day or night. Uncontrollable barking is annoying and will not be tolerated. Digging is absolutely forbidden. Pets are not allowed in any buildings. Guests whose pets are aggressive towards other guests or pets, or whose pets otherwise do not adhere to these requirements, will be asked to leave without a refund. If you walk your pet in the State Forest, it must be leashed at all times or the Rangers will issue you a ticket. We recommend that you bring your pet’s valid rabies certificate for your stay.

Campfires- Fires are permitted in fire rings only, should not be left unattended, and must be supervised by an adult. Fire rings may not be moved and should not be used for garbage. Fires must not exceed 12 inches above the fire ring and must be extinguished when leaving the campsite or retiring for the evening. Cutting or splitting firewood is not permitted. Fallen branches may be gathered on our grounds. Collecting firewood in the adjoining State Forest property is absolutely forbidden and will result in the Rangers issuing you a ticket. Due to concerns regarding the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer, guests bringing firewood with them must do so in accordance with DNR regulations. Firewood is available at the store and numerous locations nearby.

Trees- Cutting, carving, chopping, breaking, or nailing on trees (alive, dead, or fallen) is prohibited. Violators may be requested to leave the grounds without a refund.

Digging- No digging or burial of hoses, electrical cords, etc. is permitted. Guests are responsible for damage and repair to underground utilities.

Pond- The pond contains a small population of panfish and ornamental fish. It is intended for your viewing pleasure only. Please, no swimming, fishing, or rock throwing allowed.

Vehicles- For the safety of all our guests, the speed limit on the grounds is 5 MPH. All vehicles operated on the grounds must be insured and, with the exception of golf carts, must have a valid license. Golf carts are allowed with prior approval from the office. No unlicensed off-road vehicles may be operated on the grounds. You must be 16 or older and have a valid driver’s license to operate any motor vehicle, including golf carts, on the grounds. No vehicles, including bicycles, should be operated after dark without headlights. Golf carts are forbidden on the State Forest property. No more than 2 vehicles per campsite. All vehicles and trailers must be parked on your campsite driveway and may not block roadways. Please contact the office if you need additional parking space.

Campsite Cleanliness & Trash- Rugs and matts are allowed on gravel areas only. No items are to be nailed or screwed to trees. Do not alter any part of the campsite, such as shrubs, tree branches, fire rings, driveway, etc. If you move your picnic table, please put it back when departing. Campfires are allowed in the provided fire rings ONLY. Please do not move fire rings. Campsites should be kept neat and clean with no trash or garbage located outside the camping unit. All garbage and recyclables must be placed in the appropriate dumpsters. Only normal campsite waste may be placed in the dumpsters, no large items. Please pick up and properly dispose of any trash and debris (cigarette butts, etc.) when you depart your campsite.

Bathrooms- Please ensure young children are accompanied and supervised when using the bathrooms. Please do not use bathroom sinks for dishwashing.

Showers & Laundry- Coin Operated showers and laundry are available on the grounds. Please read the instructions carefully. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to ensure the child’s safety and to assist with operation.

Dump Station- Please ensure all black and gray liquid wastes are disposed of properly. Please use only environmentally safe products in your waste tanks. Persons who dump black or gray waste at their site are subject to penalties and fines from the State of Wisconsin, Division of Public Health. Dump station use is free for camping guests. If guests need to dump upon arrival, there is a $10.00 fee.

Fireworks- No fireworks, firecrackers, rockets, or any type of explosive are allowed on the grounds at any time. Use or possession may result in eviction without a refund.

Firearms & Weapons- BB & pellet guns, paintball guns, slingshots, etc. are not allowed. Guests, who wish to stay on the grounds in order to participate in a shooting event at a local gun club, must inform the office prior to registering. Except as stated above, firearms and bows are otherwise not allowed.

Emergencies- In case of emergencies, call 911.

Liability- Scheffel’s Hideaway Campground is not responsible for loss or injury resulting from fires, wind, weather, theft, or accident.

You are renting the opportunity and privilege to stay at Scheffel’s Hideaway Campground. Please follow the rules. Failure to do so may result in your being asked to leave without a refund. We reserve the right to refuse to rent to any individual or group for any reason.
